If a Twinkie and a Resee’s Peanut Butter Cup had a one-night-stand…

My kids will tell you, my weakness in life is the mix of chocolate and peanut butter. I’ve been known to hide boxes of Tag-A-Longs (you know, the Girl Scout cookie) in my underwear drawer – I kid you not. It’s not something I’m proud of, you know hiding cookies from my kids, but a necessary evil in the fight for my cookie.

I have also been seen dunking the mini Hershey bars (that I steal from my son’s Halloween candy) in jars of creamy peanut butter. And, sadly, when I’ve run out of mini Hershey bars, I’ve been known to dip individual M&M’s in a jar of peanut butter. This is slightly messy, but worth it. I’ll include the recipe at the end of this post…lol.

So, imagine my joy as I surveyed the shelves of my local Walmart store and saw this – A chocolate-peanut-butter Twinkie. It’s what would happen if a Twinkie and a Resee’s Peanut Butter Cup had a one-night-stand. Who says a one-night-stand can’t have a good outcome? With this one, it did!

I’m not a a proponent of eating these kinds of snacks and you’ll rarely find the sort in my home, but this I had to try. There’s probably enough preservatives in it to stay “fresh” for the next twenty or so years, but it’s not stopping me.

Meanwhile, my son is jumping up and down begging me to stop taking pictures and open the darn box because I’ve promised him one – and as I said, these types of treats are rare in my home. I open the box. Ten tasty, individually wrapped Twinkies. Didn’t they used to come two to a pack? Hmmm…I’ll need to figure this out because I promised myself I would eat only one pack expecting there to be two inside. I’ll figure that out later.

They look smaller than I remember, also a bummer. And, they’re no longer on that thin piece of cardboard that I would scrape the extra bit off of with my finger. They taste good not great…sigh. I’d like them a little bit more peanut buttery. Perhaps I’ll spread peanut butter over the one I eat later. I know, I know, I said one pack but it’s an experiment for my readers so I really should do it in the name of good journalism. I’ll update this post later when I do. In the meantime, thanks for joining me on this epic journey. Silver lining, since they are not the end all, I won’t need to eat the entire box!

UPDATE: Yes, I did. And, it was delicious!
